Why Volunteer with CHAMP-LIVRES?

Every book that finds its way into the hands of an eager child in Champrond-en-Gâtine, every homebound senior who receives a bi-weekly parcel of large-print novels, and every neighbor who discovers how to access digital administrative portals is supported directly by our benevolent volunteer team.

Volunteering with CHAMP-LIVRES is a deeply rewarding civic commitment. You do not need professional degrees in library sciences or literature to participate; all that is required is a welcoming spirit, reliability, and an enthusiasm for community service. Whether you can contribute two hours a month or several hours a week, your presence strengthens our village's social fabric.

The Four-Stage Volunteer Onboarding Pathway

We have crafted an intuitive, stress-free pathway for every resident who decides to offer their time to CHAMP-LIVRES. We ensure that you are never thrust into unfamiliar responsibilities without thorough preparation and friendly guidance:

  1. Stage 1: Informal Discovery Meeting: Following receipt of your interest form, our coordinator invites you for a 30-minute cup of coffee inside the library. You tour the rooms, explore the shelving layouts, discuss your schedule preferences, and review our Volunteer Charter.
  2. Stage 2: Guided Shadowing (Two Sessions): You attend two regular library shifts alongside an experienced volunteer. You observe how patrons are welcomed, learn the basics of our catalog software (searching by author, scanning barcodes, registering loans), and become familiar with our youth and reference sections.
  3. Stage 3: Supported Active Service: You begin your assigned shifts paired with a partner or managing a specialized project (such as a reading circle or home delivery run) with the continuous support of the executive committee.
  4. Stage 4: Skill-Building Workshops: Throughout the year, our association coordinates optional half-day workshops hosted by the Médiathèque Départementale d'Eure-et-Loir covering storytelling techniques, juvenile literature trends, and book repair arts.

Non-Commercial & Reinvestment Confirmation
